Sydney White (Amanda Bynes) sets out for college ready to follow her mother's footsteps and join the Kappa sorority. Once she arrives, though, she begins to realize that the path she always imagined for herself may not fit who she is. Since Sydney's mom died, her dad (John Schneider) has raised her, and she has learned some macho ways. The leader of the sorority, Rachel (Sara Paxton), is out to get her from the moment Sydney arrives... especially after Sydney starts to get close to Tyler (Matt Long), the guy Rachel wants. Sydney is rejected by the Kappas, and, with no place else to go, finds herself on the doorstep of The Vortex, home to a group of 7 misfit guys. These guys, the new-age 7 Dwarves, take Sydney in. Deep friendship grows and the social scene has a renaissance. But Rachel does not let up. She begins a quest to condemn The Vortex and replace it with a Greek Life Center. It appears Sydney's last hope is to win Student Council President. Sydney seems near victory but Rachel’s dirty tricks finally strike gold. At the last second, dad saves the day, and everyone lives happily ever after.
