Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) has always dreamed of becoming a professional hockey player. After yet another failure at hockey training camp, Gilmore discovers that his beloved grandmother's home is being repossessed. With nowhere else to turn, Gilmore finally puts his hockey skills to use - as a P. G.A. golfer. With a little training, Gilmore is able to become one of the game's best golfers, drawing large crowds with his unconventional style and occasional outbursts. Along the way, Gilmore earns the ire of the tour's current champ, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), who makes it his personal goal to see Gimore off the tour. While Gilmore pushes forward trying to win enough events to save his mother's home, he falls for P. G.A. tour manager Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen).
