Poppy (Emma Roberts) is fashionable and lives in Malibu, California. She does not like anything to do with England and thinks everyone there is a stupid, a snob or old-fashioned. Her dad, Gerry (Aidan Quinn), gets irritated with Poppy and decides to send her to a boarding school in England so that she can become more mature and disciplined. Poppy butts heads with a girl named Harriet (Georgia King). The head of the school, Mrs. Kingsley (Richardson), tries to help Poppy change. But Poppy tries hard to get kicked out so she can go back to California, enlisting the aid of the girls who share her room: Kate (Kimberly Nixon), Josie (Linzey Cocker), Drippy (Juno Temple), and Camilla (Sophie Wu). Then Poppy falls for Freddie (Alex Pettyfer), Kingsley’s son, and might not want to leave after all.
